The diabetes program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is committed to teaching our patients and their families how to effectively manage diabetes using the latest information, treatments, education and technology available. We know that a diabetes diagnosis can come with many uncertainties and lifestyle changes. That’s why our physicians work closely with patients/families, nurses, diabetes educators, dietitians and social workers to create an individualized treatment plan for each patient.

- We have access to pediatric specialists and subspecialists throughout our hospital and can provide a seamless transition for patients who need additional specialty care beyond our services.
Diabetes Education Classes
Our diabetes program offers a full range of basic and advanced diabetes education classes to patients and caregivers. All classes are taught by our certified diabetes educators and are available for both inpatients and outpatients. Classes include:
- Basic self-management
- Comprehensive education course (one week after diagnosis)
- Advanced self-management
- Insulin pump therapy
- Continuous glucose monitoring
- Transition to adult care
