Headaches can cause major distress in children and affect their quality of life. A severe or persistent headache needs a prompt action to limit or stop the pain. Our team can help you manage migraines and other headaches affecting your child, and help him or her enjoy a full, fun and active life.
When you schedule a consultation, we will start by reviewing your child's current symptoms, medical history and overall experience with headaches. It’s useful to keep a headache diary, noting when headaches occur, and what your child was eating, drinking or doing before the headache started. Bring this diary with you to your appointment.
Our team treats children with all kinds of headaches. We conduct a thorough evaluation to determine the type of headache your child has and develop a custom plan to address it. Unless there are neurologic abnormalities or other red flags, tests such as brain scans, EEGs or blood work will not be necessary.
Our specialists will recommend medications and/or lifestyle modifications, such as exercise, diet and hydration, sleep hygiene, stress management and supplements, to help your child minimize or get rid of headaches.
